We recommend wearing clothes & shoes you don’t mind getting dirty…

And bringing a colorful blanket to spread out in the grass.

While we will do our best to take photos with baby animals…

They are baby animals, so we can not guarantee they will always cooperate…

But we can guarantee that we’ll have lots of fun on the farm…

And you’ll have lots of cute photos to prove it.

Farm Flower Photos (this is film)

Our first ever Farm Flower Photos with Chloris Floral and Grace and Gather at Windrush Farm was so beautiful, we can hardly stand it…

Outside the barn was crazy with rain and hail storms, but inside our barn was like…

We had so much fun that we would love to do it again.

At another farm. In another state. With different animals. And with lots more people. WE are OPEN to anything. If you’d like to play with flowers on a farm, please send us a message and let us know.

Thank you times a million to Laura Schneider for helping make it all happen, once again.

(All of these photos were photographed on medium format film.)

This is what’s going on at our house these days…

It has been awhile since my last post, so I thought I’d at least share what we are working on…

In addition to learning how to grab our toes, roll-over, fly, drool, and laugh… we are also working on my new website.

Because now that we have this parenting thing figured out (as demonstrated in photo above)…

…it is time to get back to work again. New website link coming soon.

It’s All About the Family…

Last week I received this email:

I am looking for someone to take photos of my extended family (13 people ages 3 mos-75 yrs) in Bolinas. We are renting a house there for the weekend for my mom’s birthday. I think we would want some photos of everyone and some of the four nuclear families that make up the 13 people. Your photos are beautiful. I didn’t look at all of them but they seemed to be mostly one person. Do you have any examples of larger groups?

So, inspired, I decided to dig through the archives and share some of my favorite Rolleiflex “family”photos…

To dress up, or not to dress up…

This is Charlie, chef and co-owner of Pizzaiolo in Oakland, and the truck he uses to pick up his produce from the farmers’ markets.

And this is his son, Eli.

Charlie’s daughter, Matilda, wanted them to put on suits because she felt weird being the only one dressed-up during the group photos, after her impromptu wedding dress photo shoot.

While I really like the photo above, mostly because of Charlie’s socks, I think I like the one below better…

It is definitely random, but it is more of an honest reflection of who they were on that rainy Monday in the middle of January. I love dressing up but if I have to choose… I prefer honest reflections over imaginary projections any day.

Back to Bed

First I have to say, I am so excited because last week I received two emails from mothers who saw my work on the internet and wanted to hire me to take photos of their families. Yay for the internet, and yay for internet savy mothers.

Now back to this week, these photos are from the photo shoot I did this morning, for one of those mothers. Growing up as the baby of her family, she wanted to be sure her own baby had the same amount of photos as his big sister. So we decided the earlier in the day the shoot was, the better, because having two young nappers, it is hard to coordinate happy moods later in the day. Since my favorite time of day, the late afternoon, was out of the question, I was worried, because to get good sunlight in the morning, you have to start really early, and there was no way any of us wanted to think about photos before 7 am, so we decided on 7:30…. which for those of you who know me, that’s still very early.

But I managed to get there, with even enough time to look around for a good outdoor spot… which happened to be the dirt bike course near their house. So we played in the shade there for awhile, and then we came home and played downstairs for a bit…. and right before I left I decided, just one more… just one more spot…. and so we all went back to bed.

And as a kid, there is nothing better than cuddling with your parents in their big comfy bed… so it is not surprising that these are a few of my favorite photos of the day…. although it was really hard to choose.
