green grass + bouncing lambs = Farm Family Photo time again.

paigegreenAllisonWoofter01312012-161

Last year I offered Farm Family Photo Shoots at Windrush Farm and  we had so much fun…

paigegreenAllisonWoofter01312012-025That we are doing it again this year. paigegreenAllisonWoofter01312012-182Sessions are 45 minutes and include 10 high resolution digital files of your choice.

paigegreenAllisonWoofter01312012-050

Additional images will be available for purchase.

paigegreenAllisonWoofter01312012-126

We recommend wearing clothes & shoes you don’t mind getting dirty…

paigegreenAllisonWoofter01312012-155

And bringing a colorful blanket to spread out in the grass.

paigegreenAllisonWoofter01312012-007

While we will do our best to take photos with baby animals…

paigegreenAllisonWoofter01312012-035

They are baby animals, so we can not guarantee they will always cooperate…

paigegreenAllisonWoofter01312012-021

But we can guarantee that we’ll have lots of fun on the farm…

paigegreenAllisonWoofter01312012-193

And you’ll have lots of cute photos to prove it.

Farm Flower Photos (this is film)

Our first ever Farm Flower Photos with Chloris Floral and Grace and Gather at Windrush Farm was so beautiful, we can hardly stand it…

000082320015-FarmFlowerAllison-032017

Outside the barn was crazy with rain and hail storms, but inside our barn was like…

We had so much fun that we would love to do it again.

000082310013-FarmFlowerAyan-032017

At another farm. In another state. With different animals. And with lots more people. WE are OPEN to anything. If you’d like to play with flowers on a farm, please send us a message and let us know.

000082310016-FarmFlowerAyan-032017

Thank you times a million to Laura Schneider for helping make it all happen, once again.

Stop collaborate and listen…

Holy Jenga, the sun came up on a new year. (After 2016, I wasn’t so sure it would.)

000081110010-copy

But the last thing we need is another blog post about how bad things were in 2016.paigegreenfarmphoto01162012-0010

I figure, since most of our history books are filled with one-sided perspectives, and those perspectives aren’t always very factual…paigegreennaomimeyers2016-film-000003410007

And since we now live in a society that prefers make-believe over reality…000061930010

Why not write my own history of 2016. So here goes…paigegreensaragottfried08242016-152

It was amazing. paigegreenhabit09022016-0912

OK… so maybe not. paigegreennaomimeyers2016-film-000003410008

But instead of dwelling on the darkness…paigegreensarahentrup06232016-224

I am going to focus on the light…paigegreenlinsey03062016-056

And extend an invitation to more of the awesome…000086810006-bookclub112016paigegreen

And less of the shitty for 2017 (unless it’s compost.)000038550010

But there is an extra challenge for me, because entering this new year means entering a new decade. paigegreenmiranda092016film-012

I am not thrilled about my new decade starting the same year that our country offers the potential of nuclear war, or starts burning so many fossil fuels that we cook our way back into a primordial soup.

544a1281-oceanisle08172016paigegreen

Oh man, if I didn’t have kids… I would jump off of this doomed life raft so fast…

paigegreenfibershedpastures12142015-114

And jump on to a booze cruise in Mexico, preferably one with lots of milkshakes and tequila.

544a1554-oceanisle08192016paigegreen

But thanks to raging hormones that took over my good judgement in my early 30’s,

paigegreenliamiller01312012-043

I now have two small people who I am responsible for.

012-thanksgiving11272016paigegreen

And I desperately want those two people to live in a world where police don’t shoot citizens they were hired to protect, presidents don’t encourage hatred and violence, warlords don’t kill innocent children, and companies don’t destroy the planet or wipe out species for products like ivory, palm oil and shark fins.

_44a3535-philly113016paigegreen

So I have lots to do in 2017. The party is over.

paigegreensarahentrup06232016-253

It is time to get to work.

063-fibershedrobertjaime12012016paigegreen

Because it is better to solve problems than cry about them (although I have little to no control over my tear ducts thanks to having kids, so crying is probably going to happen regardless.)

_54a7837-mommybliss12112016paigegreen

But through the tears you may hear our family theme song, “If there’s a problem, yo, I’ll solve it. Check out the hook, while my DJ revolves it.”

paigegreenryansiriwilder07212016-120

And for the real history books (and because I promised to focus on the good)…

paigegreenwindrushlambs03192016-056

Here are a few of my actual favorite moments, projects and memories of 2016 and a new song (from La La Land) for the soundtrack of a new decade….

Farm Photo Work(play)shop 2016…

As photographers, we spend so much time working hard all by ourselves.

paigegreenFarmPhoto01162012-0466So I wanted to create a space where photographers can create, share, learn and play together.

And in 2013 we hosted our first Farm Photo Workshop.paigegreenFarmPhoto01162012-0160After two successful years of providing space for other people to play and learn,paigegreenFarmPhoto01162012-0307I realized that I wasn’t creating space for myself to play and learn as well, because I was too busy hosting.

This year I wanted to play and learn too.paigegreenFarmPhoto01162012-0287So I changed it up.

paigegreenFarmPhoto01162012-0415Instead of hosting a workshop… I hosted a playshop.

Instead of one person teaching: we were all teaching and we were all learning. paigegreenFarmPhoto01162012-0198It was tricky hosting and photographing, there are definitely things I would do better next year. paigegreenFarmPhoto01162012-0364But it was really fun.

And I am more inspired than ever to try new things… paigegreenFarmPhoto01162012-0407To collaborate…paigegreenFarmPhoto01162012-0359And to play.

I hope I always make time to play.paigegreenFarmPhoto01162012-0476

All of our beautiful models and their family members who drove them.

Farm Photo Workshop: Until Next Time

You work so hard planning and promoting an event, with fingers crossed that people will want to come. And when the day finally arrives and the people do come, you hold your breath hoping that everything goes smoothly and that the people will find what they came for.

So when the sun eventually slips down the sky, at the end of your long awaited day, and you step back and watch the people, who started the day as strangers, sitting close, sharing a meal, laughing about the day and dreaming aloud about the next time we can do this all again… it feels really, really good to finally exhale, sit down on the bench with them and raise a glass to next time.

HUGE thank you to the incredibly talented and extremely generous Farm Photo Workshop guest teachers: Sara Remington, Karen Shinto and Alysia Andriola. And equally HUGE thanks to all the FPW helpers: Jude Mooney, Laura Schneider, Alicia Deal, Carolyn Korch and Arann Harris. And last, but definitely not least, THANK YOU to Mimi Luebbermann for once again so graciously opening up her incredible farm and allowing Farm Photo Workshop to call Windrush Farm our home.

Dirtbag Wine Country Living…

Arann Harris and the Farm Band, Sam Chase and Marty O’Reilly were supposed to play at the Mystic Theater tonight…paigegreenFarmConcert050215-044

But as it turned out, the venue double booked the night and so they canceled the show.

paigegreenFarmConcert050215-052

At first my husband was crushed.

paigegreenFarmConcert050215-070

But then we started brainstorming…

paigegreenFarmConcert050215-029

Where else could they play in Petaluma?

paigegreenFarmConcert050215-047

We wanted somewhere authentic.

paigegreenFarmConcert050215-062

Somewhere people would naturally want to be.

paigegreenFarmConcert050215-025

We went through a long list of potential options, but we always came back to the farm.

paigegreenFarmConcert050215-008

And after experiencing the pure joy and love (as my three year old put it) that happened today…

paigegreenFarmConcert050215-066

It makes you wonder why…paigegreenFarmConcert050215-014

Arann Harris and The Farm Band would ever want to play anywhere else. paigegreenFarmConcert050215-038

Which is why I am urging him to host more concerts for other musicians on a regular basis.

paigegreenFarmConcert050215-076

It’d be like Prairie Home Companion meets Dirt Bag Wine Country Living

paigegreenFarmConcert050215-048

And he’d be like Garrison Keillor, but with a bloody nose… definitely not for everyone, but definitely authentic.

paigegreenFarmConcert050215-023

All those in favor of more farm concerts please send your vote to Arann Harris now:
