What’s in a Name… (please vote)

Dear Readers,

My stock photography partner, Jude Mooney, and I are in the process of choosing a name for our business. Can you please help us by voting on your favorite name listed below. The competition closes Monday evening at 7pm EST… so please contribute your votes before then. Thanks!!

  • Hazel
  • Jane Photo
  • Jane Harper Photo
  • Green & Greene
  • Sweet Pea & Ragamuffin
  • Rusty Thimble Photo
  • The Greens
  • Hazel Jane
  • Hazel and Jane

The idea behind the some of these names (hazel & jane) is that we are creating an alias- a
mysterious female character.

But if for commercial reasons your your stock library should be traceable to you by familiarity of name – then I vote for Green & …..(jude’s last name)?

I think something straightforward, quickly identifiable as you, and easy to remember will serve you best in the long run…

  8. My first inclination was Jane Harper, but I google searched it, and it seems to be taken by some lady in London. But I like it — simple and literary. Hazel Jane is just as desirable, and Rusty Thimble seems appropriate to your style, but might I suggest “P.J. Greenmooney Stock ‘N Stuff”?

  9. Hi!
I like all of the suggestions, but I would not recommend using aliases- very confusing for the customer. My first question would be (is) “Who is Jane Harper?” They will assume it is your names and you will forever be explaining that it is not. Sweet Pea and Ragamuffin is cute, but it sound like a kid’s clothing line. I like Green & Greene because it sound most professional and will work in many situations. And because it is your real names, it has honesty and clarity built in. Try to picture your ideal client and then imagine what they would click on and why.

I am super excited about your endeavor, congratulaions! I am sure whatever name you choose will be perfect.

  14. A Huge “THANK YOU” to all who voted!!

This was a hard decision to make, but after all that creativity, we decided to go with…

    Mooney + Green

Because we do like our last names, and even more after other people acknowledged our good name luck.

Although we both had already decided that Jude was definitely Hazel, and I was Jane… so we are sad not to use those now, but maybe you’ll see Hazel & Jane pop up again somewhere else.
