It’s Our Arloversary….

One year ago today we started our love affair with this ridiculously wonderful creature….

We met Arlo, formerly known as Johnny, through an internet dating service called…

Adopt A Pet.

It was the best (and only) internet dating experience I have ever had and I completely recommend it to anyone who is looking for unconditional love.

One final After School Special: Arlo was saved from a shelter by a group who picks up dogs who are about to be euthanized. He is such an amazing dog that I can hardly believe our luck that he was rescued. If you are thinking about getting a dog, please think about adopting from a shelter near you. There are lots and lots of amazing dogs, just like Arlo, who need a good home.

Two very different babies…

I met up with an old college friend today, who I haven’t seen in way too long. It was fun to catch up on all that has happened over the past several years and to meet the two very different babies in her life…

Both of her babies are always very happy to see you…

Both babies can be a little stinky at times and need cleaning up after…

Both babies do a lot of drooling…

But only one baby has a face that is so easy for everyone to love…

And the other baby…

Has a face that I especially love…

I am a such a sucker for dogs, and at 135 lbs, this guy is a whole lot of dog to love.

I’d sneak him back to California in a second, except he doesn’t quite fit into my carry-on luggage.

I’m going to be sad for awhile…

The greatest canine love of my life died today.

Pancreatic cancer.

The disease transformed my…. strong, healthy, vibrant, squirrel chasing, pond swimming, flop to the floor and cuddle with you anytime… love into skin and bones in only three short weeks.

Luckily I made it home just in time to hold his head as he took his last breath.

So… needless to say I am a little bit sad today.

It doesn’t seem fair that “man’s best friend” does not live as long as man.

I am in search of Puff the Magic Dragon to be my next best animal friend…

because I don’t know that I can go through this again.
